Israel Philharmonic greeted by Queen Sofia of Spain

Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, with Music Director
Zubin Mehta, opened its concerts in Madrid and Barcelona with a visit by
Sofia, Queen of Spain. The performance of the First and Second Symphonies of Brahms was met with cheers from the capacity crowd at the National Auditorium of Music. The Orchestra will perform all of Brahms' Four Symphonies in Madrid on Monday and Tuesday (October 26 and 27, 2009) before traveling to Barcelona for a third concert.
The IPO is celebrating thirty years of collaboration with "Ibermusic" and Spanish impresario
Alfonso Eichon.
