American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra received an overwhelming reception from the Bay Area communities when The Richter String Quartet of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra performed private recitals in support of the Orchestra. In San Jose, Piedmont and San Francisco funds raised will underwrite three weeks of programming for the Orchestra in Israel.

SOUTH BAY - May 20, 2010
Before enjoying the beautiful strains of the Quartet in the San Jose home of Doris and Rick Davis, Mr. Davis welcomed their guests and explained how their generosity will help to sustain the Orchestra’s programming, allowing the IPO to continue its important role as Israel’s cultural emissary. EAST BAY - May 22, 2010
Susan and Moses Libitzky hosted and co-chaired the East Bay recital with Tracy and Dennis Albers. The co-chairs welcomed and thanked the guests, the “who’s who” of the East Bay, for their outpouring of support and stressed the importance of everyone’s gifts to the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. The Richter String Quartet's marvelous program of seven classical pieces, included works by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Ravel, to name a few. Following the recital, Varda Rabin, also a Co-Chair of this event with her husband Irving, expressed gratitude to the musicians for the beautiful music and spoke of her travels with the IPO to Madrid, marvelling at the true ambassadorship of each Orchestra member. She enthusiastically told the audience she and Irving planned to accompany the Orchestra on its tour to Japan from November 3 –11 and encouraged everyone to join them. Special thank you for their leadership support to Susan and Moses Libitzky, Varda and Irving Rabin, Tracy and Dennis Albers, and Michelle Schwartz / Gallery Squared.

SAN FRANCISCO – May 23, 2010
Overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge at the home of Nancy and Stephen Grand, the leadership of the San Francisco community reveled in the beauty of a classically restored residence while enjoying the classics of Beethoven, Debussy and Schubert. Nancy Grand welcomed patrons to her home to enjoy the wonderful evening of music.
