Los Angeles Gala 2009
At the Broad Stage in Santa Monica, AFIPO patrons and friends honored Maestro
Zubin Mehta on his 40th Anniversary as Music Director of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. The Gala was Co-Chaired by
Edythe and
Eli Broad,
Anne and
Kirk Douglas,
Roberta Holland and
Richard S. Ziman. Honorary Chairmen for the benefit were
Ruth and
Charles Gold,
Lisa and
Dustin Hoffman,
Sherry Lansing and
William Friedkin,
Midori and
Ronnie and
Vidal Sassoon.
AFIPO Board member, Richard Ziman, welcomed the patrons and friends and thanked them for their valuable and loyal support for the Orchestra. Guests were treated to a special evening that included a solo performance by pianist
Yefim Bronfman, followed by heartfelt words of tribute by Mr. Bronfman and violinist Midori. A conversation with Zubin Mehta hosted by academy award winning producer and director
Irwin Winkler followed and the audience was given the opportunity to ask questions of the Maestro.
