New York Benefit 2013

10/29/2013

Spanning multiple generations, nearly 500 guests gathered to celebrate and support the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra on Tuesday, October 29th at Alice Tully Hall.  Showcasing Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, one of the most beloved and recognizable classical masterpieces, conductor and violinist Julian Rachlin led members of the IPO in a program that included guest artist Alan Alda narrating a selection of four poems, specifically chosen for this event.  Leonard Nimoy, a longtime friend and support of the IPO, introduced the concert and shared remarks on the IPO's historic founding. Chaired by Penny and Claudio Pincus, son Daniel Pincus, with Sherry Jacobson and Eugene Zuriff, and their daughter Alyssa Barrie Weiss and Guy Billauer, this fall benefit emphasized the timelessness of this Orchestra and the importance of preserving this cultural gem for future generations.

A festive supper party with the artists followed the performance and was attended by friends and patrons including Benefit Underwriters Emily and Eugene Grant, AFIPO Board President David and Rochelle Hirsch, Ingeborg and Ira RennertRita and Charles Bronfman, and Board Members Lauren and John Veronis.
